Where is Heart House?
Heart House is located in Bethesda, Maryland. The building is within walking distance of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Library of Medicine. Ample free parking is available on the Heart House grounds.

Directions for Driving:
From the District of Columbia: Take Wisconsin Avenue North to the intersection where East-West Highway, Wisconsin Avenue and Old Georgetown Road meet. (Note: You will pass the Hyatt Regency Bethesda Hotel on your left.) Bear left onto Old Georgetown Road and continue approximately three miles. After passing NIH on your right, Cedar Lane will be the next street on the right. Turn right into second driveway, after Cedar Lane, to enter the Heart House Campus. Visitor parking is on the right across from the main entrance.

From points north of Baltimore, Maryland: Take I-95 South to I-495 West (Silver Spring). Follow I-495 West 10 miles to Old Georgetown Road, (exit 36 South.) Turn left off the exit and travel under the Beltway Overpass, then proceed through 3 traffic lights and turn left onto Alta Vista Road. First driveway on right takes you into the Heart House parking area. Follow the driveway around back of building to the visitor lot across from the main entrance.

From Western Maryland: Take I-270 South to the D.C./Virginia split. Bear left towards Washington, D.C. and take the first exit (exit 36 South) onto Old Georgetown Road Rte. 187. Turn right off the exit heading south. Continue south until you travel under the Beltway Overpass (approximately l.5 miles); then proceed through 3 traffic lights and turn left on Alta Vista Road. First driveway on right takes you into the Heart House parking area. Follow the driveway around back of building to the visitor lot across from the main entrance.

From Northern Virginia: Take I-495 North. At the 495/270 split take I-495 East to Old Georgetown Road (exit 36 South). Turn right off the exit and proceed through 3 traffic lights and turn left onto Alta Vista Road. First driveway on right takes you into the Heart House parking area. Follow the driveway around back of building to visitor parking across from main entrance.

Transportation from the Airports
The Bethesda area is serviced by three major airports—Reagan Washington National, Dulles International, and Baltimore-Washington International.

Special Note About Taking the Subway (Metro): If you are going from National Airport to the Bethesda Hyatt, you can easily go via Metro. At the airport, follow signs to Metro, then take Metro to the Bethesda stop (which is immediately next to the hotel). However, Heart House is not particularly close to the Metro.

From Reagan Washington National Airport to Hyatt Regency Bethesda
Taxi/Shuttle: Follow signs to taxi stands in front of terminals. Driving time is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, or to arrange for an airport shuttle call Royal Airport Shuttle at 1-800-653-0888 or 301-657-0888.

Subway: From National Airport to the Hyatt Regency Bethesda Take the Yellow Line Train marked "Mt. Vernon Square" to the GALLERY PLACE stop; THEN take the Red Line train (upstairs) marked "Shady Grove" to the BETHESDA stop. This is next door to the Hyatt Regency Bethesda.

To return to National Airport from the Hyatt Regency Bethesda FROM THE BETHESDA stop (next door to the Hyatt) take the Red Line train marked "Glenmont" to the GALLERY PLACE stop; THEN take the Yellow Line train marked "Huntington" to National Airport.

Metrorail trains run approximately every 12 minutes Monday- Friday, 5:30 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. Weekends, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. (Note: Fare increases during Rush Hours Monday through Friday—5:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.)

Driving: Follow the signs out of the airport for Washington, 395 and the George Washington parkway (GW Parkway). This will bring you onto the George Washington Memorial Parkway going North. Do not exit onto 395; continue on the parkway north towards Spout Run. (Be careful not to exit onto Rte. 50 to Rossyln.) Continue past the Turkey Run and CIA exits to the exit for I-495 North towards Maryland. Follow I-495 North and veer right at the I-495/I-270 split (you are now going East on I-495). Take your second exit after the split, which is Wisconsin Ave. (Rte. 355), south towards Bethesda. Go south on Wisconsin Ave. for 3 miles; the Hyatt will be on your right at 1 Bethesda Metro Center (7400 Wisconsin Ave).

From Dulles International Airport to Bethesda Hyatt Regency

Driving: Take Dulles Access Road South to I-495 North towards Bethesda/Baltimore. After the I-495/I-270 split take your second exit, which is Wisconsin Ave. (Rte. 355), south towards Bethesda. Continue south on Wisconsin Ave. for 3 miles. The Hyatt will be on your right at 1 Bethesda Metro Center (7400 Wisconsin Ave).

From B.W.I. (Baltimore-Washington International Airport) to Bethesda Hyatt Regency

Driving: Exit the airport onto the access road (195 West). Take exit 4B which is I-95 South. Continue on 1-95 South until you reach I-495. Take I-495 West towards Silver Spring. Follow I-495 West until you reach exit 34 which is Wisconsin Ave. (You will be heading north. Follow signs for a U-Turn onto Wisconsin Ave. South). Head south on Wisconsin Ave. for 3 miles. The Hyatt will be on your right at 1 Bethesda Metro Center (7400 Wisconsin Ave).
