Cardiovascular Conference at Snowmass

COURSE OVERVIEW/STATEMENT OF NEED

The American College of Cardiology is committed to improving the outcomes of patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) by addressing the educational needs of cardiovascular specialists. The Cardiovascular Conference at Snowmass fulfills this need by helping cardiovascular specialists keep abreast of new and emerging approaches in the treatment and management of challenging and controversial topics in CVD.

Focusing on interactivity, state-of the-art knowledge and practical decision-making, this unique conference will engage participants in discussions, debates and potential controversies using real-world cases. Faculty include renowned experts on the cutting edge of clinically relevant CVD data.

LEARNER OBJECTIVES

The overall goal of this course is to increase learners’ knowledge to critically evaluate the latest approaches to CV patient care that have occurred within the last two years and incorporate them into their practice. 

Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to —

  • Employ practical, evidence –based strategies to address lipid and hypertension management concerns in the CVD patient
  • Discuss the newer concepts in the treatment of valvular heart disease
  • Describe current treatment strategies in the investigation and management of coronary artery disease
  • Analyze new approaches to the diagnosis and management of for heart failure including the recently updated ACC/AHA Heart Failure Guidelines.
  • Identify best practices for the management of patients with atrial and ventricular arrhythmias.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is intended for cardiovascular specialists. Primary care physicians, Fellows in Training, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, nurses in cardiology and other medical professionals interested in general cardiology management will also find this course of value.

Cancellations
Cancellation, substitution or transfer to another course is allowed if written notification is received four weeks before a scheduled course. A full refund minus a $250 processing fee will be given for written notifications received fewer than four weeks before the first day of the course. No refund will be given for no-shows.

In the unlikely event that the course is canceled, the College will refund the registration tuition in full but is not responsible for any travel or hotel costs you may incur.

ACC reserves the right to cancel the course in the unlikely event of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If a course is canceled or postponed, ACC will refund registration tuition but cannot be held responsible for other costs or expenses, including cancellation/change penalties assessed by airlines, travel agencies or hotels.

This course has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

MOC Statement
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion data to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Physician Assistants
The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME.

Rooms have been set aside at the Westin Snowmass Resort. The ACCF room block is scheduled to be held until December 13, 2017, but may sell out prior to this date.     Snowmass is located 6 miles from the Aspen Snowmass Airport (ASE).  A number of airlines offer service to ASE:

    Shuttle Service: The Westin and Holiday Inn Express offer complimentary shuttle service to/from the Aspen Snowmass Airport for guests staying at their properties.

LOCAL TRANSPORATION
The Town of Snowmass Village provides its own free shuttle service to pretty much any location in the Village.  The Roaring Fork Transit Agency (RFTA) provides transportation services on a year-round basis. Free buses operate within the city of Aspen and between Snowmass Village and Aspen.
