CME Reaccreditation
Every four to six years, the American College of Cardiology Foundation
(ACCF) must be reaccredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education (ACCME) to provide CME credits for educational offerings.
In November 2007, the ACCME certified that the ACCF, through its exemplary
performance, has fulfilled the accreditation requirements for “Accreditation
with Commendation”, which carries the highest term approval of six-years.
The College received exemplary commendations particularly in the areas
of using multiple needs sources to plan CME activities, having innovative/creative
mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of our overall CME program, and
having an exemplary organizational framework.
Our congratulations to all member leaders and staff for
their exemplary contributions. Our next opportunity to demonstrate the
accomplishments of our CME program will be November 2013. Each year, the
Accreditation Committee will conduct an annual review of the overall CME
program and recommend strategies for improvement. About 15 months prior
to the November 2013 date, the College will launch an exhaustive self-study
process that will culminate in an ACCME site visit and reaccreditation
decision in 2013.
