Program Overview & Objectives
Prepare yourself for the ABIM Board exams with a program designed to meet your needs. Faculty members, many of whom are past ABIM Board members and question writers, will orient their lectures to the exam. They’ll offer insight on thinking through Board questions and ABIM guidelines.

Each session will include faculty discussion of several case management studies with attendee participation. Attendees will enjoy basic ECG and echo review sessions, as well as simulated Board examinations for general cardiology, EP and ECG. Consider bringing ECG calipers and calculators to the study sessions.

Upon completion of this program, attendees should be able to —

  • competently interpret ECGs and echo studies
  • recognize strengths and weaknesses in interpretation of nuclear, CT and MR images
  • understand basic coronary angiographic findings and cath lab hemodynamics
  • diagnose and treat arrhythmias
  • understand the indications for pacing, ICDs
  • demonstrate an understanding of basic cardiovascular pharmacology
  • demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of CHD risk stratification and prevention
  • review and receive appropriate preparation materials and education for taking the ABIM Cardiovascular Board Exam

Who Should Attend

  • Cardiovascular fellows
  • Cardiovascular specialists
  • Physicians or other health care personnel who seek an in-depth comprehensive review
  • Physicians preparing for initial Board certification
  • Physicians preparing for recertification
Attendees who are recertifying for their ABIM cardiovascular are invited to register separately for a six-hour optional course on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005. Complete one of five modules required for ABIM recertification. Sixty multiple-choice questions will be completed through group discussion and the use of an audience response system. You may turn in the module at the conclusion of the program for ABIM credit. This program will be offered in collaboration with the ABIM. Separate registration required.
