Matching
Retired Members with Needy Practices
In
the October 2003 JACC, ACC President Dr. Carl Pepine wrote
compellingly of the shortage of cardiologists, and appealed
to retired specialists to consider returning to clinical practice
on a part time basis, and to practices to consider such flexible
arrangements. The ACC has now introduced a search mechanism
on ACC
Cardiology Careers
to facilitate this matching process.
After
linking to the job bank, click on “Go” for cardiology
jobs and then select “Advanced Search”. You can
narrow your search by full time/part time, permanent/temporary
positions. Employers are encouraged to use these Advanced
Search tools when posting positions as it makes it easy for
candidates to focus their search. Candidates can also post
their résumé confidentially if they wish. If
you have any questions about the Advance Search options or
Cardiology Careers in general, feel free to contact our customer
care department at 888-884-8242.
As we spread the word about this new job search tool, the
number of jobs offered and candidates interested will grow.
Please send your feedback on this search capability to mdavenpo@acc.org.

Use
the new Journal Connection to manage both print and online

advertising in the College’s print publications, including
the Journal of the American College of Cardiology,
Cardiology, ACC’s monthly newsletter, and the
Fellows in Training electronic newsletter. Easily
transform your online ad into a print ad and create an Insertion

JACC, Cardiology
and Fellows in Training
- Cardiology,
the official newsletter of the ACC, now includes two pages
dedicated to posting career opportunities. Each month, Cardiology
is delivered to all 28,000+ ACC members plus a list of subscriber
and industry/media readers.
- Fellows
in Training,
the ACC's bimonthly e-newsletter for fellows-in-training,
is sent to an audience of approximately 3,000 cardiology
trainees. It includes classified-style postings of career
opportunities appropriate for cardiovascular fellows-in-training.
The newsletter is also emailed to all U.S. cardiovascular
training program directors.
For more information about either of the above newsletters, call Sheri Fuller, Network Publications, 410-584-1973.

Set
up Interviews with the Conference Connection tool
The
Conference Connection tool allows you to view a list of annual
cardiovascular meetings, conferences, and other events pertinent
to cardiovascular job-seekers and employers—including
the ACC Annual Scientific Session. Candidates can flag the
events they will be attending, so it’s easy for potential
employers to connect with them in person. Employers can search
the CV database for candidates attending a conference.
Plus,
at the ACC Annual Scientific Session, you can take advantage
of a dedicated Placement Center where candidates can view
electronic postings and employers can scroll through résumés
and meet in privacy with top candidates.
