The ACC maintains a list of Fellows of the College who are willing to provide information to the media in their area of expertise in cardiovascular medicine and current health issues. We can provide contacts for a wide range of topics, including prevention, heart disease in women or the elderly, lipid-lowering therapies, high blood pressure, cholesterol, surgery, ethics, workforce and training issues, and many others.

and Trustees
The election of 2007-2008 Officers and Trustees was held
at the March 2007 Annual Business Meeting during the 56th Annual
Scientific Session in New Orleans.
Officers (2007-2008):
James T. Dove, M.D., F.A.C.C., was installed as president on March 26, 2007 at the 56th Annual Scientific Sessions in New Orleans. Dr. Dove is Clinical Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, SIU School of Medicine and a founding partner of Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants, Ltd.
W. Douglas Weaver,
M.D., F.A.C.C., was
appointed as president-elect. Dr. Weaver is the Division
Head of Cardiovascular Medicine, the Darin Chair of
Cardiology, Director of the Henry Ford Cardiovascular
Institute at the Henry Ford Health System and Professor
of Medicine at Wayne State University.
Alfred
A. Bove, M.D., Ph.D, F.A.C.C., was elected vice president. Dr. Bove is an emeritus
professor of medicine at Temple University where he
also serves as section chief of cardiology. He practices
clinical cardiology with particular expertise in heart
failure and heart transplantation, undersea medicine
and sports medicine. Dr. Bove is also the editor-in-chief
of cardiosource.com, the American College of Cardiology
education web site.
Five-year Trustees (2007-2012):
A. John Camm.
M.D., F.A.C.C., F.E.S.C.,
of London, U.K., is British Heart Foundation Professor
of Clinical Cardiology, Division of Cardiac and Vascular
Sciences, St. George’s University of London, U.K.
Camm has been an active participant in many ACC-affiliated
activities. Recently, he has served as the ESC representative
on the ACC/AHA/ESC Writing Committee to Develop Guidelines
for the Treatment of Patients with Supraventricular
Tachycardias and as co-chair of the ACC/AHA/ESC Writing
Committee to Develop Guidelines for the Management of
Patients with Ventricular Arrhythmias and Sudden Cardiac
Death. He also serves as associate editor on the ACCEL
Editorial Board.
Richard A. Chazal, M.D., F.A.C.C.,
is a senior partner in The Heart Group in Fort Myers.
He has served the ACC in multiple capacities including
chair of the Board of Governors and the Secretary of
the College, ACC Chapter President/Governor for Florida
(2002–2005), and has chaired multiple committees.
In addition to service on the ACC Board of Governors
and as an ex-officio on the the Board of Trustees, he
serves on the ACC-CathKIT Editorial Board, the Budget
Finance and Investment Committee (BFIC), as well as
the Advocacy Committee, in addition to performing multiple
other assignments and serving on other task forces.
Charles R. McKay, M.D., F.A.C.C., of
Torrance, Calif., is chief of the division of cardiology,
Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and professor of medicine,
David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. McKay has served
the College in many capacities, but most recently, his
focus has been on ACC’s National Cardiovascular
Data Registry (NCDR™). He currently serves as
a member of the NCDR Management Board and the NCDR Scientific
Oversight Committee.
Jane
E. Schauer M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.C. is a member
of the Presbyterian Heart Group in Albuquerque, New
Mexico, specializing in non-invasive cardiology, and
started the Adult Congenital Clinic in New Mexico in
conjunction with Pediatric Cardiology Associates. Dr.
Schauer has been the ACC Governor from New Mexico and
serves on the Steering Committee for the Board of Governors.
She is currently chair-elect for the Board of Governors
and serves on as an ex officio member on the Board of
Trustees.
