Welcome to the new ACC FIT link for the AMA-RFS (American Medical Association – Resident and Fellow Section). As you have hopefully heard in recent months, we now have two cardiology fellows-in-training, Saravanan Kuppuswamy, MD and Ibrahim Saeed, MD, who are working hard to make this new collaboration productive and informative.

As we stated in our editorial in the 2006 August Cardiology publication, our goal with this collaboration is to foster involvement and awareness of cardiology fellows-in-training on issues concerning graduate medical education and national health policies - not to advance any specific agenda.

In this space we hope to provide information and timely links to many of the key issues for both the AMA and the AMA-RFS. Also included will be ways to get involved at both a national and local level. We encourage you to use the upcoming FIT Forum (www.accfitforum.org) to foster debate and discussion on some of these issues that will affect us not only as fellows, but as we make the transition to practice.
