ACC Member Recruiters should use the following tips to guide them in successfully recruiting prospective CCA members:

Figure out who is a potential member

  • Coworkers who are members of the cardiovascular care team (nurses, physician assistants, and clinical pharmacists working in the practice or institutional setting).
  • Cardiovascular team professionals looking for career advancement opportunities.
  • Members of allied care team associations/societies.
  • Nonmembers who attend ACC chapter meetings or local professional meetings.
  • Local college graduates or students from cardiac care team programs.

1. Know the benefits of ACC membership
Be familiar with the many benefits ACC membership. From free access to Cardiosource, complementary online subscription to the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, discounts to education programs that offer CE and CME for CCA members to deep registration discounts to attend the College’s Annual Scientific Sessions.

2. Show your enthusiasm for the College
Show your enthusiasm with firsthand accounts of how ACC membership has been a great investment in your professional development and career. When sharing your story, tell them why you joined, how long you have been a member, the benefits you receive, and how they can join.

3. Send them to www.acc.org
Show potential CCA members the value of ACC membership by sending them to acc.org. The website contains valuable information about College initiatives that effect the cardiovascular care team including nurse, physician assistants and clinical pharmacists.

4. Follow up
Following up with potential CCA members is just as important as the initial contact. Call them, e-mail them, or drop by to see if they have sent in their CCA membership application or have any questions. Take the opportunity to reinforce the many benefits including world-class education like Care Team Spotlight Session during the ACC’s Annual Scientific Session.

5. Send a “Thank you!”
Send a handwritten note or e-mail thanking the potential member for considering membership in ACC. The more contact they have with you, a current Cardiac Care Associate member, the more likely they are to join!
