  1. Dr. Michael Freed, the Pediatric Cardiology representative to the ACC Coding and Nomenclature Committee, informs us that the AMA CPT Editorial Panel has granted approval for new CPT codes for closure of ASD's and VSD's using transcatheter techniques. The AMA panel has recommended an RVU value to CMS (formerly DHHS). The code and its final RVU value will be reported in the Federal Register November 1, 2002, and the new codes will go into effect January 1, 2003.
