Thank you for your interest in reviewing this draft version of the 2008 ACC/AHA Clinical Performance Measures for Adults with ST-Elevation and Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction. This document is an update of the 2006 ACC/AHA STEMI/NSTEMI Performance Measure set.

This updated measure set is based upon the 2004 ACC/AHA Guidelines for the Management of Patients with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction, the 2007 Focused Update of the ACC/AHA Guidelines for the Management of Patients with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction and the 2007 ACC/AHA Guidelines for the Management of Patients with Unstable Angina/Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction.

Certain highly rated therapies or strategies were not included in this performance measure set. The Writing Committee sought to include only those with the strongest evidence and which satisfied all the criteria set forth in the methodology for the development of performance measures. We consider this effort to be an iterative process and there will be a need to continue to refine and improve the set in the future.
