Performance Measures

The ACCF has established itself as a recognized national leader in cardiovascular care. One of its primary responsibilities in this role is determining the essential elements of quality cardiac care. Performance measures are intended to provide practitioners with "tools" for measuring the quality of care through these determined elements and identify opportunities for improvement.

The ACCF has launched an initiative to develop physician-level performance measures for certain cardiovascular diseases and procedures. This effort, under the leadership of the ACC/AHA Task Force on Performance Measures, is intended to promote the implementation of clinical evidence guidelines.

At this time, the ACC/AHA Task Force is developing cardiovascular performance measurement sets for Heart Failure (both inpatient and outpatient) and Acute Myocardial Infarction.
