CV disease is the leading cause of maternal mortality in the United States and due to the burden of pre-existing CV disease and risk factors associated with advancing maternal age, maternal morbidity and mortality rates are rising. This interprofessional course focuses on the evolving field of cardio-obstetrics to ensure better diagnosis and treatment of your patients of child-bearing age.

Goal
The overall goal is to improve maternal and fetal/neonatal outcomes by providing the cardiovascular care team with up-to-date, evidence-based guidance on the evaluation, risk assessment, clinical management, and treatment of individuals with-or at risk for-cardiovascular disease during pregnancy.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
- Develop a team-based care plan using shared decision making for pregnant patients with cardiac disease.
- Evaluate the safety of medications commonly used to treat heart failure, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, familial hypercholesterolemia, and arrhythmias for pregnant and lactating individuals.
- Apply best practices in shared decision-making when caring for pregnant patients with valvular heart disease.
- Identify the appropriate tool(s) to risk stratify patients across the spectrum of congenital heart diseases.
- Construct a guideline-directed treatment plan for pregnant patients with supraventricular tachycardias, including atrial fibrillation, and ventricular arrhythmias.
- Articulate unique aspects of the diagnosis and management of hypertension in pregnant and postpartum individuals.
- Describe how a diversified workforce can address and reduce disparities in maternal outcomes.
- Select the appropriate diagnostic imaging for a broad spectrum of cardio-obstetric patients, including those with suspected acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, vascular conditions, and valvular heart disease.
- Identify cardiomyopathy in pregnancy and implement guideline-directed treatments.
Target Audience
The primary target audience is members of the interprofessional cardiovascular (CV) care team seeking basic to intermediate information on cardio-obstetrics.

Cancellations
Cancellation, substitution, or transfer to another course is allowed if written notification is received four weeks before a scheduled course. A full refund minus a $149 processing fee will be given for written notifications received fewer than four weeks before the first day of the course. No refund will be given for no-shows.
ACC reserves the right to cancel the course in the unlikely event of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If a course is canceled or postponed, ACC will refund registration tuition but cannot be held responsible for other costs or expenses, including cancellation/change penalties assessed by airlines, travel agencies or hotels.

The room rate at the Embassy Suites by Hilton is $289 plus tax (subject to change) per night. The ACC room block is scheduled to be held until Sept. 16 but may sell out prior to this date. Any reservations made after this date shall be at the hotel's current available rate.

The ACC currently is accepting abstract and case submissions for Cardio-Obstetrics Essentials. Selected abstracts and cases will be invited to present in person at Heart House in Washington, DC during the course. Those authors will receive special instructions to register when they receive their abstract notification.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: All abstracts and cases must be SUBMITTED by 11:59 PM ET on July 8, 2025, to be considered.
Notification: You will be sent a notification with the status of your submission via email by August 12, 2025. If accepted, you will be directed to register for the course.
