“I am deeply honored to be selected as the next editor-in-chief of JACC by the ACC and my fellow peers in cardiovascular medicine,” Fuster said. “I am excited about this very prestigious and important leadership role overseeing the vital research findings published weekly in one of the world’s leading cardiology journals, which truly make a daily difference in advancing the field of cardiology and the care of patients in the U.S. and worldwide. I look forward to starting my term early next year.”

Fuster is the director of Mount Sinai Heart and physician-in-chief at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. He also serves as the director of the Zena and Michael A. Fuster brings experience as both an author and editor to his position with JACC, including serving as editor-in-chief of Nature Reviews Cardiology in April 2009. He is the director of the ACC’s renowned New York Cardiovascular Symposium, which he has since expanded to Brazil and India. He also led the FREEDOM trial, the largest funded study of diabetes, and developed the SHE Foundation which focuses on improving health through education and communication. More recently he was the inspiration for a Muppet doctor on Barrio Sésamo: Monstrous Supersanos, the Spanish version of Sesame Street.
