Poll: IV P2Y12 Inhibitors in PCI for ACS
Rupture of atherosclerotic plaque is usually the initiating event in an acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Persistent thrombotic occlusion at the site of plaque rupture results in acute myocardial infarction. Aspirin is given as soon a diagnosis of ACS is made. P2Y12 inhibitors are also frequently used in ACS and urgent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
