Feature | MedAxiom at 25: A Quarter Century Helping Cardiovascular Organizations Thrive
Twenty-five years ago, cardiovascular leaders faced a very different landscape. Independent cardiology practices were flourishing, fee-for-service reimbursement dominated, and consolidation, digital transformation and payment reform had yet to reshape the specialty. Since its founding in 2001, MedAxiom has helped cardiovascular organizations thrive by combining operational expertise with a commitment to exceptional patient care.
Today, MedAxiom serves nearly 600 cardiovascular organizations nationwide, including physician, administrative and health system leaders, and works with industry partners to address challenges, ranging from workforce shortages and physician compensation to artificial intelligence (AI) and care transformation.
ACC and MedAxiom
For the ACC, MedAxiom's 25th anniversary celebrates a partnership that has expanded the College's ability to support cardiovascular professionals beyond clinical science.
Since 2019, when the ACC acquired MedAxiom, the organizations share a mission: To transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health for all. While ACC continues to define and disseminate best practices, MedAxiom helps cardiovascular leaders translate those advances into sustainable models of care that improve access, quality and performance.
Beyond Clinical Science
Initiatives like MedAxiom's Cardiovascular Provider Compensation and Production Survey, MedAxcess analytics platform and CV Transforum are key to this work, providing data, education and peer collaboration. Newer initiatives – including HeartX, MedAtlas CV, Peer Review Plus and AccuCode CV – reflect the organization's investment in innovation and care transformation.
Other activities, such as the MedAxiom Academy, the Cardiovascular Essentials for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) course, and the Cardiovascular Business and Management Essentials program, an exclusive partnership between MedAxiom and Wharton Online, are helping professionals gain core competencies and providing access to essential operations, economics and leadership tools.
MedAxiom's collaborative community also remains central to its work. In that spirit, ACC and MedAxiom launched the Care Transformation Initiative in 2025, combining ACC's leadership in clinical excellence with MedAxiom's operational expertise to help health systems redesign cardiovascular care delivery. The initiative reflects a broader view of success, measured by outcomes, access, quality, clinician support and value.
As MedAxiom celebrates its 25th anniversary, the milestone underscores how much cardiovascular care has evolved – and how much opportunity lies ahead. Together, the ACC and MedAxiom are helping cardiovascular professionals bridge the gap between knowing what exceptional care looks like and delivering it consistently.
