PHR Protection
The ACC has voted to endorse the Markle Foundation Connecting for Health (CFH) Common Framework for Networked Personal Health Information. The framework, developed by a very respectable public private CFH consortium including ACC, defines a set of practices that can help protect personal information and enhance consumer participation in online personal health records. It comprises specific technology and policy approaches for consumers to access health services, to obtain and control copies of health information about them, to authorize the sharing of their information with others, and sound privacy and security practices. The CFH Common Framework needs to become leveraged through legislation. It is a balanced way to make some real progress.
