There is a growing interest for ACC to track adherence and other approaches to reducing CV morbidity in partnership with other members of the Connecting for Health (CFH) Steering Group, which includes insurers, industry, government consumer groups and IT companies. CFH, along with ACC, is underwhelmed by the slow national progress on the HIT agenda. Part of this is there is no business case yet (payment reform is needed) for investing in interoperable HIT systems in outpatient care. The ACC's practice-level registry pilot, IC3, is something the CFH Group strongly supports. The idea is to “move the needle” with one or two practical projects that can demonstrate some quality improvement success that involves the use of HIT opportunities in CV care. We will explore for sure.
