One Deficiency in My Blogging

I've been live blogging major CV conferences since the American Heart Association's 2008 annual meeting, but something has always been missing … coverage of the science. Being a primary care and public policy doctor by training, I've always felt my blogging strengths were in the overall themes and highlights of the meetings that I attend.

This year though, we're trying something new. The ACC is sponsoring two ACC members to attend the meeting and blog about their thoughts on the latest science. The first of these is British cardiologist Sarah Clarke, M.D., F.A.C.C., who is chair of the Communication and Education Committee of the British Cardiovascular Society. As she writes in one of her first posts about the meeting: “The ACC and the BCS have always enjoyed a special relationship.” We’ll be continuing this special relationship through the meeting coverage she provides.

From the U.S., cardiologist and established blogger Westby Fisher, M.D., F.A.C.C., known on the blog-o-sphere as Dr. Wes, will be providing additional perspective. Dr. Fisher practices at NorthShore University HealthSystem, in Evanston, Ill., and is a clinical associate professor of medicine at University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine.

These two ACC members are charged with relaying the most cutting edge science to you, our loyal readers. Look here for their highlights or check out their blogs. Dr. Clarke will be posting to the BCS blog at http://www.thebcsblog.com/ and Dr. Fisher's blog is available at: http://drwes.blogspot.com/. Dr. Fisher will also be tweeting at @doctorwes.

If any ACC members out there have blogs in which you'll be covering the meeting, share them in the comment section below. Looking forwarding to seeing your insights!
