The New Online Professional Home For the Entire CV Care Team Has Arrived
This post was authored by Kim Eagle, MD, MACC, editor-in-chief of ACC.org.
As the editor-in-chief for the new ACC.org, I am pleased to announce today’s launch of the ACC’s new and improved website. Nearly two years ago, the ACC embarked on the redesign of CardioSource.org, with the goal of leveraging new technologies to ensure cardiovascular professionals and their patients have the tools and resources to communicate easily and effectively in today's increasingly digital world. What you see today is the culmination of this journey. I congratulate the ACC staff and the many member leaders who played a role in this impressive undertaking.
The return to the original ACC.org web address symbolizes an overall streamlined approach to the College’s new online home. Centering on the key attributes of anytime and anywhere, focused and personalized, and trusted and in-depth, the new website furthers the ACC’s key missions of science, quality patient care, lifelong learning and member education. Key highlights include mobile optimization, personalization options, streamlined navigation and improved search performance – all of which make the website easier to use whether in the office, at home or on the go.
Based on the demands of ACC members, content organization and navigation are at the center of the new ACC.org. The site is built upon intuitive navigation and improved search performance, which will help users easily navigate the large volume of complex ACC content contained in the site. The new site makes it easy to locate clinical guidelines, search Journal of the American College of Cardiology content, and stay on top of the latest research, hot topics and trends. More than 20 new clinical topic collections serve as centralized, topic-specific hubs for latest developments, guidelines, clinical documents, expert commentary and analysis, educational programs, case challenges and more. The Latest in Cardiology section provides front page access to pertinent, timely content like ACC news stories, meeting coverage, journal scans, clinical trials, blog posts and advocacy updates. Users can browse the list or filter by topic, theme or date.
The site also offers personalization options that aid in navigation of content and help members stay on top of their specialty. Members can subscribe to email digests by topic collection to receive new content from their designated interest areas directly to their inbox – and to see recommended content on the homepage each time they log in. Members can also track their educational progress, find and join member sections and save and assemble content for later use. Updates were also made to article commentary and social media sharing, enabling greater communication among colleagues.
The new ACC.org will not only help us keep current on latest developments in care, practice and research – but will transform the way we search and access the clinical content and practice tools that drive our decisions at the point of care. Through the enhanced website, we can better connect with one another and the ACC, which will have a lasting impact on the provision of cardiovascular care.
Your former CardioSource.org user name and password are your keys to logging in and will work on the new site. An ACC.org Quick Start Guide has been developed and serves as an excellent resource for getting started on the site.
