Happy Nurse Appreciation Month

For those of you that practice in the cardiology arena, the ACC can be, and should be, your professional home.

The ACC pours countless resources into services designed just for the "non-physician" members of the College, offering its members opportunities to be involved in the local, state and national levels. With patient resources, instant access to current guidelines, hundreds of hours of CME and an internationally renowned Annual Scientific Session, nurses can be assured that all of our professional needs are met.

The CardioSmart Explorer Mobile App allows you to show patients videos of normal heart function whether you are in clinic or at a patient’s bedside. The new ACC.org has an excellent list of patient teaching tools to print off and share with patients. Guidelines help to focus your practice whether it is in heart failure, like mine, or in another area such coronary artery disease, congenital heart disease or acute coronary disease.

And with the addition of the Associate of the ACC designation, the College has raised the bar for all cardiovascular team members by acknowledging the dedication and professional commitment of nurses to excellence in cardiovascular care.

As a nurse practitioner who has worked with heart failure patients for many years, the ACC has been invaluable to me.

As I prepare to open a new heart failure clinic in my local community hospital, I have found all of the resources that I need on the ACC’s new website. Printed patient materials, guidelines to focus our clinic practice and recommendations on points to cover with teaching – it’s all there!

I love my cardiology home at the ACC!
