ACC Names JACC: Asia Deputy Editors, Opens Submission Website

Three additional members of the JACC: Asia editorial board have been named. Following the introduction of Jian'an Wang, MD, PhD, FACC, as the inaugural editor-of-chief of the newest online JACC Journal in December, the ACC has named Duk-Woo Park, MD, PhD, of Seoul, South Korea; Wataru Shimizu, MD, PhD, of Tokyo; and Dong Zhao, MD, PhD, of Beijing as deputy editors.

A renowned interventional cardiologist, Park is currently a professor of interventional cardiology at the Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea. Park's primary research interest has been in coronary revascularization treatments such as PCI and CABG, PCI for left main coronary disease, TAVR, antiplatelet therapies and biomarkers. He has been an investigator of many clinical trials conducted at the Asan Medical Center.

Shimizu currently serves as a professor and chair of the department of cardiovascular medicine at the Nippon Medical School in Tokyo. He is also the visiting director of the department of cardiovascular medicine at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center in Osaka, Japan. A distinguished cardiologist, Shimizu's primary research interest has been in cardiac arrhythmias, particularly inherited arrhythmia syndromes and sudden cardiac death. As a primary or co-primary investigator, Shimizu has conducted many clinical and basic research on inherited arrhythmia, such as congenital long QT syndrome and Brugada syndrome. Shimizu has also contributed to many national and international guidelines and expert consensus statements on inherited arrhythmia syndromes and pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

A distinguished clinical epidemiologist, Zhao is currently a professor of preventive cardiology at the Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases (BIHLBD) at Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University. She is the former deputy director of BIHLBD. Zhao is also a member of several writing committees on China and international guidelines focused on preventive cardiology, dyslipidemia management and hypertension management.

All three deputy editors will collaborate with the journal's editorial board members and with research authors in the East Asia region to publish original articles, cutting-edge technology manuscripts and clinical recommendations centered on East Asian populations and by Asian authors.
