DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nWebinar Overview\n\nMinimally invasive mitral valve repai
r for degenerative mitral regurgitation has become increasingly popular. S
everal observational studies have suggested it is safe and effective\, wit
h outcomes comparable to traditional open-heart surgery. For the first tim
e\, a randomized\, controlled trial has now compared the two approaches to
surgical mitral valve repair.\nPatients with degenerative mitral regurgit
ation are best treated with surgical mitral valve repair\, but less invasi
ve interventions such as transcatheter edge to edge repair have caught the
attention of both patients and cardiologists. The UK Mini Mitral Trial ra
ndomized patients to either full sternotomy or mini-thoracotomy approach t
o mitral valve repair surgery\, assessing the benefits of a less invasive
approach to mitral regurgitation. These results were presented at the ACC.
23 Scientific Sessions and implications of the trial will be discussed on
this ACC webinar.\nKey Objectives/Learning Outcomes: For the first time\,
