The American College of Cardiology has recognized three outstanding abstract presentations as Abstract Award winners at the ACC Latin America 2025 conference on September 18-20 in Mexico City.
The conference brings together leading experts and cardiovascular clinicians from across Latin America and the Caribbean to examine emerging trends and evidence-based strategies in the prevention and management of patients with heart disease. This year’s winners were selected for their high-quality research that furthers the ACC’s mission to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health.
This year’s Abstract Award winners are:
- Myocardial Contraction Fraction as a Prognostic Marker in Patients with Cardiac Amyloidosis – Carlos Peñate (National Institute of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery, Cuba)
- The Role of Left Atrial Strain in the Follow Up of Patients with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction After Adding Vericiguat to Optimal Medical Treatment – Patricia Nava-Sanchez (National Institute of Cardiology Ignacio Chavez, Mexico)
- Sex-Based Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Follow-Up in Long COVID at 6 and 12 Months – Lev Bladimir Ramirez (Universidad de Sabana, Colombia)
Abstract Award winners receive complimentary registration and travel to the ACC’s Annual Scientific Session, taking place March 28-30, 2026 in New Orleans, where they will be able to present their winning abstract and be published in an ACC.26 JACC supplement.
