Wellness and Humanity in the CICU: Part 1: The Patient Perspective
Webinar Overview
Patient perspectives on wellness and humanity in the CICU, featuring a cardio-psychology and post-CICU panel with expert faculty, and hosted by ACC’s Critical Care Cardiology Member Section in collaboration with the Society of Critical Care Cardiology.
Critical care cardiology is a field that demands not only medical excellence but also a deep understanding of the human experience. In this first installment of the Wellness and Humanity in the CICU series, we explore the patient perspective; what it truly means to experience care in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). Join ACC's Critical Care Cardiology Member Section for a compelling discussion featuring two patient panelists who will share their unique journeys: A cardio-psychology patient, offering insights into the intersection of cardiac disease and mental health, and a post-CICU patient, reflecting on their recovery and the long-term impact of their critical illness. Through their stories, we will examine the emotional, psychological, and physical challenges that patients face in the CICU and beyond. Our expert faculty will guide the conversation, offering clinical perspectives on how to enhance patient-centered care while fostering wellness for both patients and providers.
Key Objectives/Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the lived experiences of CICU patients, including emotional and psychological challenges.
- Explore the impact of critical cardiac illness on mental health and long-term recovery.
- Identify strategies for improving patient-centered care in the CICU setting.
- Discuss ways to integrate compassion and holistic wellness into critical care cardiology.
