We are a young, vibrant section dedicated to adding value to Section members interested in Innovation across the cardiovascular spectrum. Our section is member-driven and focused on all aspects of health care innovation, including areas of broad focus career development, such as entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship and care pathway development; and more content specific areas, such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital health and digital twins.
Like any new venture, we take a deliverable-based approach to our focus areas. These deliverables vary based on the project leaders and include manuscripts, webinars and in-person events. Here are current focus areas for the Section:

Nominations are now open for ACC’s 2027 Distinguished Awards, which recognize outstanding individuals making contributions to the cardiovascular profession. To nominate a colleague for a Distinguished Award, submit the required documents to the Awards Committee via awards@acc.org. Nominations are due Thursday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. ET. In a new episode of ACC's AI-Enabled Clinician podcast, Kathryn L. Berlacher, MD, MS, FACC, joins Chief Innovation Officer Ami B. Bhatt, MD, FACC, to discuss large language models (LLMs) and the integration into clinical workflows and medical education while still ensuring and preserving clinical autonomy. They address the importance of studying human-AI interaction to establish safe guardrails and emphasize the necessity of formal training and continuous dialogue to prevent over-reliance on these tools.
