Last week, the ACC joined with the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and The Society of Thoracic Surgeons on a multi-society statement regarding aortic valve replacement (AVR) decision-making. The statement, issued in response to recent media coverage of TAVR and SAVR, emphasizes the collaborative, multidisciplinary nature that is the standard of care when it comes to AVR. It also reaffirms the societies’ shared commitment to the multidisciplinary heart team approach and patient-centered decision-making, as well as the “ongoing generation of evidence on the safety and efficacy of TAVR, including its expanded use across additional indications.” Read the full message.
