ACC Survey Assesses In-Person vs. Virtual Fellowship Interviews

When interviewing for cardiovascular disease fellowship programs, fellows in training (FITs) prefer an in-person element, which helps determine whether the program is the right fit for them, according to results from an ACC survey published July 24 in JACC. To that end, ACC's Program Directors and Graduate Medical Educators (PDGME) Leadership Council recently sent a letter to program directors noting that following the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, it might be time to reconsider best practices for the interview formats for fellowship training programs. "ACC's PDGME Leadership Council remains dedicated to build on the lessons learned from diverse program director and applicant experiences and participate in ongoing discussions about the best recruitment environment and practices to benefit cardiology fellowship candidates and programs now and in the future."
