As part of ongoing advocacy efforts by the ACC and CV Team, a multi-disciplinary group virtually met with U.S. Representative Ann Kuster (D-NH-2) this summer. The group was comprised of advocates of varying specialties, including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, APPs, and CV administration. The advocacy points discussed with Rep. Kuster were numerous, but important in moving forward the advocacy efforts of ACC. They included H.R. 3173 Improving Seniors' Timely Access to Care Act of 2021, H.R. 1956 Improving Access to Quality Cardiac Rehabilitation Act, and H.R. 7961 Safety From Violence for Healthcare Employees Act or the "SAVE Act". Rep. Kuster has signed on as a co-sponsor of H.R. 7961 "The SAVE Act" which puts in place the potential for federal penalties against those who knowingly assault or intimidate hospital personnel who are functioning in the course of their duties. The CV Team appreciates Rep. Kuster's willingness to meet and discuss these items that are important to continuing to provide high quality value-based care as well as maintaining the health and safety of health care workers.
