Aligning Treatment Goals and Care Pathways in Cardiogenic Shock

Despite recent advances and availability of multiple mechanical circulatory-support devices, mortality remains at 50 percent in patients presenting with acute myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock (AMICS).

A recent article in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology details a suggested care pathway that may improve the outcomes of patients with AMICS.

The authors note that standardizing care and aligning level I, II and III emergency centers like trauma care are fundamental to goals in cardiogenic shock. Read more on ACC.org.
