JACC: Advances: Radiation Exposure, Training and Safety in Cardiology

In recent years, there has been an increase in radiation exposure to cardiologists when working in the catheterization laboratory. Prolonged exposure to ionizing radiation can lead to many health issues, including reproductive issues for women. A recent article published in JACC: Advances, written on behalf of the ACC Women in Cardiology Advocacy Work Group, discusses the radiation risks in interventional and structural cardiology, electrophysiology, imaging, advanced heart failure, and pediatric cardiology, and provides practical recommendations for minimizing radiation exposure.
