Call for Papers | Cardiovascular Imaging in Women

JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging strives to provide a vigorous platform for novel imaging-related solutions. In line with the promise to meticulously define the role of cardiac imaging in managing cardiovascular disease around the world, a cardiovascular imaging in women themed issue will be published to highlight the role of imaging in understanding, diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease in women.

While there are clear differences in cardiovascular disease between men and women, the application and accuracy of invasive and non-invasive imaging modalities in women has been less studied. Imaging may play an important role in certain situations unique to cardiovascular disease in women (pregnancy, hormone therapy, breast and gynecologic cancer, detection gap in ischaemic heart disease and heart failure, microvascular dysfunction, and more), but there is an urgent need to comprehensively compile what is known and unknown in this arena and identify the way forward.

How will this process work?

  1. Paper submissions that address the broad topic of imaging and cardiovascular disease in women are encouraged. These can be in the form of original research, clinical trials, meta-analysis, in-depth reviews or position statements from learned societies or advocacy groups. Other formats will be considered if they are sufficiently rigorous and impactful.
  2. Manuscripts will be processed under a special rapid peer-review and decision process.
  3. Interested authors should submit their papers online at jaccsubmit-imaging.org by Oct. 1. On the submissions page, please select “Imaging in Women” from the “Special Issues” pull-down menu. For more information, see “Author Instructions.”
  4. The final publication is scheduled to appear in the April 2016 issue of JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging.
  5. Accepted papers will be immediately displayed on the JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging website in an “online before print” format.
