September Is AFib Awareness Month: Learn About ACC AFib News, Tools and Initiatives

Between lifestyle changes, medication, surgery and cardioversion, the list of treatment options for atrial fibrillation (AFib) can be overwhelming for patients. Cardiologists are tasked with ensuring that AFib patients understand their condition and treatment options so that we can work together to make the best possible decision. That means considering a patient's health, symptoms, beliefs, values and ability to comply with treatment. It also means providing better insights into the risks and benefits of treatment options pertaining to each individual. By utilizing this type of shared decision-making, we can help patients make the best decisions that will most effectively manage this condition and minimize risk of complications.

September is AFib Awareness Month, and the American College of Cardiology is providing a variety of tools to help you tailor treatment for your AFib patients. Continue to check this page for recent AFib-related news and videos, as well as links to our AFib resources, including the AFib Clinical Community and the newly launched AFib Toolkit.
