In Memoriam | Former ACC California Governor George Smith, Jr., MD, FACC, passed away in April from apparent heart complications. He was 71 years old. In addition to his role as an ACC governor, Smith was active in a number of ACC activities, serving in leadership roles on the ACC’s Political Action Committee and the College’s Ethics and Discipline Committee. Smith is also remembered for playing a key role in obtaining certification for heart surgery at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
