ACC Comments on Medicare Shared Savings Program ACO Proposed Rule

The ACC has submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on the Medicare Shared Savings Program: Accountable Care Organizations (MSSP ACO) Proposed Rule. The ACC commented on several proposals designed to make the program more accessible to interested providers, including the waiver of certain regulatory requirements for ACOs that assume a two-sided risk model; and allowing ACOs to remain under a shared savings/no shared loss track beyond the initial agreement period, rather than forcing them to move to two-sided risk or leave the program. The also College reminded CMS that the success of the MSSP ACOs and other value-based payment models relies on the continued refinement of these programs based on stakeholder feedback.
