Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, MACC

In a recent Editor's Page in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, MACC, discusses his one year anniversary as editor-in-chief of the journal. Upon assuming the position of editor last July, he noted that "while the science has to maintain the highest quality to help the medical community, the educational manner by which we deliver that material has changed. The two educational principles that I have learned from the youth are simplicity and insightfulness.” In order to incorporate these principles into the journal, Fuster has added central illustrations to every original research and review paper, in addition to highlighting contemporary topics through the "Present and Future” section and the Fellows in Training/Early Career column.

One of the biggest accomplishments in the past year is the JACC audio summaries that now accompany each study – which provide Fuster's perspective on the findings. The audio summaries are also available in iTunes by searching "JACC Audio Podcasts.”

ACC Holds Impact Factor Ranking as #1 CV Journal in the World

For the second year in a row, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, (JACC) was listed as the #1 cardiovascular journal in the world. According to the 2014 Impact Factors for Journals, JACC holds the top position among all 123 cardiovascular journals in scientific impact. These 2014 Impact Factor results are based on citations from the 2013 calendar year, when Anthony N. DeMaria, MD, MACC, was the editor of JACC. Among all other cardiovascular journals, the ACC publishes three of the top 10 in the world.
