ACC Delays Committee Nomination and Application Processes
BOG & NCDR Committee Processes to Continue on Schedule

Since the development of ACC’s comprehensive five-year Strategic Plan, designed to ensure that the College is doing the right things to fulfill its mission in this changing environment, ACC’s Board of Trustees (BOT) has made it a priority to review its governance and decision-making structures and processes. As a result of this review, the BOT recently approved several key principles of 21st century, optimal governance. The Board will use these principles to guide the development of performance metrics and a governance implementation plan that will be voted on Dec. 5.

Given this review and pending plan, the College is delaying most major ACC committee nomination and application processes until mid-December in order to incorporate any changes. NCDR committee positions will continue as scheduled with final applications due by Nov. 9. Board of Governor (BOG) chair-elect nominations will also continue on schedule, with the BOG Nominating Committee meeting in mid-November.

As always, BOT members will engage with stakeholders across the College to get input on the proposed plan. The ACC exists because of its members and for its members. Therefore, member input into the strategic direction of the College is vital. The ultimate goal is to have a governance structure that enables the College to continue its success in transforming not only cardiovascular care, but also the people who deliver it.

Stay tuned for more on final governance plans and additional committee openings in the New Year!
