FDA Warns of Interference Between CT and Electronic Medical Devices

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a safety warning for reports of interference between computer tomography and electronic medical devices, such as insulin pumps, cardiac implantable electronic devices and neurostimulators. The Agency states that adverse events are unlikely and the “presence [of such devices] should NOT preclude the performance of an appropriate, medically indicated CT scan.”
