For the third year in a row, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) ranked #1  among all 124 cardiovascular journals worldwide, according to the 2015 Impact Factors for Journals. JACC received its highest impact factor ever of 17.759, up from 16.503 in 2014. JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging, JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions and JACC: Heart Failure ranked among the top 10 cardiovascular journals worldwide, earning impact factors of 7.815, 7.630 and 7.218, respectively.

The 2015 Impact Factor results are based on articles published during the 2013 and 2014 calendar years. JACC’s unprecedented rating is reflective of the combined efforts of former JACC Editor in Chief, Anthony DeMaria, MD, MACC, and current Editor in Chief Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, MACC. Since assuming the Editor in Chief role in July 2014, Fuster has made several key additions to the journal to make it easier for cardiovascular professionals to make use of the science presented within its pages. To date, downloads for weekly audio summaries of each JACC article now exceed 2.6 million. Central illustrations have also proven useful in visually summarizing research highlights in a manner that is easy to share with the more than 50,000 followers of JACC Journals on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

Access to JACC and the other JACC Journals continues to rank among the top ACC member benefits, particularly among the growing numbers of International Fellows and Associates. Regular Early Career and Fellows in Training features, focused issues on topics like population health promotion, special state-of-the-art review series on topics like statistical principles, and perspective pieces authored by ACC’s sections, councils and more recently international chapters are only serving to increase this value. Fuster has also worked to further broaden JACC’s global reach. “The Editors and I have actively chosen content that will have relevance to the global clinical community,” says Fuster. “Sixty percent of JACC’s submissions already come from outside the U.S., and we expect this percentage to continue to rise.”

Looking to the future, the JACC family of journals are only going to continue to grow in stature and presence. JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging and JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions continue to see growth in reach and impact. In addition, JACC: Heart Failure earned its first Impact Factor rating with this latest release of scores. JACC’s newest journals – JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology and JACC: Basic to Translational Science – continue to build solid reputations of their own. JACC: Basic to Translational Science, ACC’s first open-access journal debuted earlier this year as a leading forum for advancing the field of translational cardiovascular medicine, and as a platform for accelerating the translation of novel scientific discoveries into new therapies that improve clinical outcomes for patients affected with or at risk for cardiovascular disease.
