Deadline Extension For Submission of Electronic Clinical Quality Measure For Hospitals Participating in 2016 Medicare EHR Incentive Program

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the deadline for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals participating in the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting and/or the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs to March 13. The extension is for the submission of electronic Clinical Quality Measure (eCQM) data for the 2016 reporting period only. CMS is granting this extension to allow hospitals additional time to submit eCQM data in response to stakeholder concerns regarding the challenges that hospitals face in upgrading EHR technology to the 2015 Edition and incorporating updates to eCQM specifications in 2017. For more information, reference the CMS Registration and Attestation resource.
