Poll Results: The New AUC for Coronary Revascularization in ACS

The results of the most recent Invasive Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention Clinical Topic Collection survey are displayed here. The poll targeted the effects that the recently released ACC/AATS/AHA/ASE/ASNC/SCAI/SCCT/STS 2016 Appropriate Use Criteria for Coronary Revascularization in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndromes would have on personal practice. The poll indicated that the document will have no major effect on most aspects of current practice. The low poll participation (much lower than prior polls) also suggests no passion about the recommendations. That is consistent with the document itself, which did not encourage major changes to practice. There is one exception seen in the poll results that reflects the updated recommendation to consider non-culprit lesion revascularization in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction "acceptable" while not making treatment necessary. That neutral change in the AUC was paralleled by a 75% response suggesting an increase in non-culprit lesion percutaneous coronary intervention in acute coronary syndromes, although most responses suggested only a minimal-to-moderate change in practice.

The next poll is up. Please vote; it allows interventionalists to have a pulse on how their colleagues are thinking and practicing.
