ACC Supports the Patient Choice and Quality Care Act of 2017

The ACC sent a letter of support for the Patient Choice and Quality Care Act of 2017 (PCQCA), legislation introduced by Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Congressmen Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Phil Roe (R-TN), that would enhance the care and treatment of patients with advanced illnesses. The PCQCA establishes improved patient-to-clinician communication by creating a team of health care providers to assist and educate patients confronted with advanced illness and facilitating informed decision-making for personalized care. In addition, the PCQCA would provide $50 million in grant funds to educate and train health care providers to improve palliative, advanced and end-of-life care.

"Improving patient care is of utmost importance to the ACC. We commend your bipartisan leadership and look forward to working with you to progress this critical legislation," writes ACC President Mary Norine Walsh, MD, FACC.
