ACC Sends Condolences Following Barcelona Attack

Following the horrific attack near Las Ramblas in Barcelona on Aug. 17, the ACC sent letters of sympathy and support to the European Society of Cardiology and the Spanish Society of Cardiology. The letters, signed by ACC President Mary Norine Walsh, MD, FACC, shared that the hearts and minds of ACC staff and members are with the people of Spain and the ESC, as they prepare for the upcoming ESC Congress to be held from Aug. 26 – 30.

"In just one week, Barcelona will be where the world of cardiology comes together as a beacon of innovation, discovery and science for cardiovascular professionals across the globe – connecting those who share in a common goal to advance cardiovascular medicine worldwide," the letters stated. "Times like these remind us that as we shoulder the burden of disease together as members of the global community of cardiology, we also shoulder the burdens of our times together. We are fortunate to call each of you friends and colleagues."
