Heart of Health Policy | ACC Provides Comments on Draft Interoperability Framework Agreement

On Feb. 20, ACC submitted comments to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) on the draft Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA). This voluntary agreement is designed to enable all stakeholders to share patient data nationwide with the goal of providing a single, network agnostic path to electronic health information exchange.

The College advocates that complete interoperability of health information technology is essential to efficient and high-quality care for patients. However, ACC expressed concerns with TEFCA, urging ONC to recognize the substantial investments that stakeholders have already made to existing data systems and provide sufficient flexibility for different types of stakeholders participating in the agreement.
