ACC President Leads ACC Delegation at Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology in Beijing

The College is fostering its long-term relationship with the Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology (GWICC) from Oct. 10 – 13 at the annual event in Beijing, China. An ACC delegation will be led by ACC President Richard J. Kovacs, MD, FACC, with multiple joint sessions including sessions focused on prevention, cardio-oncology, interventional cardiology and JACC Journals.

Over the next three days, attendees will hear from ACC leaders including Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, MACC, editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology; Roxana Mehran, MD, FACC, incoming ACC Board of Trustees member; Ana Barac, MD, PhD, FACC, ACC Cardio-Oncology Council co-chair; B. Hadley Wilson, MD, FACC, ACC Board of Trustees member; Aaron Kugelmass, MD, FACC, ACC Asia Conference 2019 co-chair; Salim Virani, MD, FACC, ACC Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease Council chair; Pamela B. Morris, MD, FACC, ACC Annual Scientific Session vice chair; and others.

Session highlights include:

  • Thursday, Oct. 10 from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. CST (China Standard Time): JACC at GWICC Joint Session: The Evolving Dynamics of JACC
  • Friday, Oct. 11 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CST: Richard J. Kovacs, MD, FACC, and Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, MACC, speaking at the GWICC Opening Ceremony
  • Friday, Oct. 11 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CST: ACC at GWICC Joint Session: Interventional Cardiology
  • Friday, Oct. 11 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. CST: ACC at GWICC Joint Session: Cardio-Oncology
  • Friday, Oct. 11 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. CST: ACC at GWICC Joint Session: Prevention

In addition, Fellows in Training will have an exciting opportunity to test their knowledge of cardiology in an "FIT Jeopardy" competition on Friday, Oct. 11 from 5:40 – 6:30 p.m. CST.

ACC's booth 201-4/201-5 will be a hotbed of activity throughout the meeting. ACC leaders will host mentoring sessions on Friday, Oct. 11, from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. CST and on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST. The sessions are an opportunity for young cardiologists to meet ACC faculty and receive advice on a number of topics, including general career advice, medical specialties, exchange research interests and explore ideas on how to improve their practice.

CardioSmart patient information on the prevention guidelines, and other patient tools, information on the JACC Journals, and ACC's ECG Drill & Practice and HeartSongs products will all be available at the booth translated into Chinese.
