The World Heart Federation (WHF), and its partners in the Global Coalition for Circulatory Health, published correspondence in The Lancet condemning outright the launch of the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World, describing the foundation as a vehicle for the tobacco industry due to collaboration with international cigarette manufacturer Philip Morris International.

WHF and partners "condemn this newly formed foundation as an attempt by the tobacco industry to subvert public policy for a tobacco-free world." They urge all parties with an interest in public health to focus on supporting "all legitimate and honest efforts to protect people from the harms of tobacco and smoking." Read more >>>
