Over 280 measures are available for reporting in 2016 PQRS. The ACC, with the American Heart Association and the American Medical Association's Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement, works to develop evidence-based physician- and group-level performance measures to evaluate adherence to guidelines. ACC-developed measures are included in the PQRS and are identified by PQRS number and available reporting option in Table 1.
In addition, CMS has composed a specialty-specific preferred measure set for cardiology (see Table 2). While reporting on these specific measures is voluntary and is meant to serve as a guide, CMS plans to expand the measures available in the set to be included for future reporting in the MIPS quality performance category.
