American College of Cardiology President speaks on the quality of heart care for Maryland patients with an audio news release. The audio news release was picked up on 28 stations and networks in the media markets within Maryland and reached more than 350 thousand listeners.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Fortunately, there have been great strides in treatments, but it is important that these treatments are tailored to individual patients. Recently there have been reports of the overuse of heart stents in several Maryland hospitals.　

Dr. Ralph Brindis, president of the American College of Cardiology, discusses the continuing efforts to improve the quality of cardiovascular care in Maryland.

To date, the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Cardiology along with other industry leaders are working with state officials to advocate for the accreditation of catheterization labs, use of cardiovascular registries and other initiatives needed to improve the quality of cardiovascular care in Maryland.
