WASHINGTON (Feb 03, 2015) -
The American College of Cardiology President Patrick T. O’Gara, MD, FACC, issued the following statement in response to the American Board of Internal Medicine’s announcement on the Maintenance of Certification program changes:
“The announcement that the American Board of Internal Medicine will make changes to the Maintenance of Certification program comes as welcome news to the internal medicine community. Last year’s significant changes to the program generated legitimate criticism and sparked heated discussions – including among members of the cardiovascular community. The changes announced today are encouraging, and the ABIM should be recognized for listening to physicians and specialty societies, including the ACC. We look forward to working with ABIM and other medical societies to evolve and improve the MOC process as we continue to focus on providing the best care to our patients and enhancing quality outcomes.”
