The Nomenclature and Epidemiology of Worsening HF: What to Do

Webinar Overview

In this webinar, Alison Bailey, MD, FACC, and Melvin R. Echols, MD, FACC, review the evolution of the worsening HF definition. Specifically, they will highlight the nomenclature and epidemiology to ensure participants understand the importance of considering the onset of worsening HF as an event that marks a new phase of HF. This webinar is part of the Transform HF Care: New Horizons in Treatment initiative, supported by Bayer AG. Visit the Managing HF Across the Spectrum online course and access additional educational activities here.

Key Objectives/Learning Outcomes:

  1. Evaluate the epidemiology, risk factors, comorbidities and community aspects associated with HF to determine best practices for care.
  2. Distinguish pathophysiologic characteristics when evaluating and diagnosing HF, including current classifications, genotypes and phenotypes, to analyze best HF risk stratification, prevention and management strategies.
  3. Incorporate guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT), newer therapies and interprofessional team strategies into treatment care plans for the management of HF to improve care coordination, communication and patient outcomes.
