ACCEL Lite: Reinterpreting the AFFIRM Study in 2020

New analyses highlight the atrial fibrillation subpopulations with potential to progress to major morbidity outcomes and permit a reevaluation of the benefits of rhythm control for these endpoints and need for early restoration of rhythm control. The improved methods of rhythm control in 2020 such as catheter ablation and early restoration of sinus rhythm have much greater favorable impact on these outcomes. In this interview, Sanjeev Saksena MBBS, MD, FACC, and Andrea M. Russo MD, FACC, with Arav Jhand, MD, discuss reinterpreting the AFFIRM (Atrial Fibrillation Follow-up Investigation of Rhythm Management) study in 2020.
